On the surface, the AX looks and performs the same as the traditional 98 exit only device. But through smart engineering and redesign, the AX meets the 5 pounds operational force requirements. As a result, the chassis now requires less push force to actuate the latch, allowing for accessibility without compromise. Subject to Von Duprin's standard testing, the 98 exit only device meets rigorous standards for durability, use and functionality. It possesses a handsome smooth case and fits all types of single and double doors with mullion. Devices are certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 2014, Grade 1. The AX98EO device has a smooth mechanism case and is non-handed except when the following device options are used: SD (special dogging), -2 (double cylinder) or SS (signal switch). Covers stock hollow metal doors with 86 or 161 cutouts on single doors (may cover cutouts on pairs – consult template). The 299 strike ships standard but optional strikes are available. The hex key also comes standard on the AX98 rim exit device. Device length is 3'.
