Special-Lite, Inc. began in 1969 with the mission to design, manufacture and sell high-performance products for the commercial entrance market.  The company then grew by producing aluminum doors for private labeling by other entrance product suppliers until over time Special-Lite branded products exceeded private label sales.

Responding to the need for a more scratch- and dent-resistant door for the school environment, in 1981 Special-Lite introduced the industry’s first flush doors for exterior entrances utilizing fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) face sheets.  Currently Special-Lite is the largest volume producer of FRP doors in the U.S.  They also produce doors made with acrylic-modified polyester (AMP) wood grain products.

Special-Lite uses a unique design approach that allows them to build heavy-duty doors that are light and flexible, look new longer and have an extended life cycle. Every door and frame they make is a custom solution, made to order.
